Can People Still Be Saved After The Rapture?
Dr. David Reagan in a you-tube video gathered together 13 so-called bible prophecy expertsand posed this question. “Can a person be saved during the Tribulation who heard the Gospel before the Rapture and rejected it??”
Here is a link to the video which was posted in August 2012.
I highly recommend watching the video for more context to his question.
Dr. Reagan’s first question to these experts, “Is the Rapture of the Church Mentioned in the book of Revelation?” I won’t be addressing this question in the article, instead I’ll address his second question mentioned here. “Can a person be saved during the Tribulation who heard the Gospel before the Rapture and rejected it?”
Dr. Reagan wasn’t able to present in the video all 13 so-called experts opinions, he says at the end of the video that of the 13 bible scholars 6 answered yes, and 4 said no and 2 were undecided. Even Dr. Reagan dismissed it saying that those who’ve rejected the Gospel during the church age will continue to reject it during the tribulation period. He and the others cling to 2 Thessalonians 2.
From what I can glean from the video, the experts are fixating on the last passage in 2 Thessalonians 2, verse 11 and 12. “ “For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie. 12, and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.”
There are two-sides to the question posed by Dr. Reagan. The first side of the question, some of the so-called experts say that if a person who’s rejected the Gospel during the church age will continue to reject it during the tribulation period. I agree with their statement to a point. There are some very wicked and hard-hearted people today, they continue to reject Christ and His offer to save them. I feel that verse 12 mentioned above applies to this particular population of people during the tribulation. God will send a delusional spirit upon these people because He knows their hearts.
On the other side of the coin, there are people today that are riding the fence, so to speak. And I will give scriptural proof that people will be saved during the tribulation.
Could it be these people whom Jesus describes in Revelation 3:15 as neither hot nor cold?
“I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot. So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will vomit you out of My mouth”
To me it sounds like Jesus is saying ether be for Him or against Him, not sitting on the fence. He wants these fence-sitter to make a decision about where there loyalties lie. The assumption is made that “hot” and “cold” are metaphors for a passionate commitment.
If you visit the video link above scroll to the 18:36 mark and hear what Don Mcgee from Crown and Sickle Ministries has to say on this subject. Personally I totally agree with Mr. Mcgee on his answer to Dr. Reagan’s question.
At this point in writing this article and after viewing Dr. Reagan’s video several times I find myself baffled by these so-called bible experts with advanced degrees who’ve completely ignorned scripture. If you look up the educational credentials of the men who say that people cannot be saved during the tribulation you’ll see that these men have put years into their education. Many have advanced degrees. PhD’s, etc, Theology degrees and so forth. And here I sit writing this article with only a High School education, as a believer an a bible filled with the Holy Spirit. Not to be to hard on these men who say getting saved during the tribulation is impossible. I respect their work of the Gospel, but I also feel that these men suffer from hubris: excessive pride or self-confidence, being blinded by their advanced degrees.
I also would like to point out that although the Bible is meant to be understood, it can take years of study to gain a better understanding of scripture, no mater the topic. I’ve been a believer for over 35 years and as far as prophecy is concerned there are still some elements that I don’t understand… yet. There is an old saying, “we give as good as we get.” But when it comes to the Bible, “we get as good as we give.” If a believer humbles themselves, and truly and sincerely seeks a greater understanding, it will come, but not on our time-frame, but God’s time-frame.
Scriptural proof that people will be saved during the tribulation.
Proof Number 1.
He opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those
who had been slain for the word of God and for the testimony which
they held. And they cried with a loud voice, saying, “How long, O
Lord, holy and true, until You judge and avenge our blood on those
who dwell on the earth?”And a white robe was give to each of them;
And it was said to them that they should rest a little while longer,
until both the number of their fellow servants and their brethren,
who would be killed as they were, was completed.”
In Dr. Reagan’s video not one of the so-called experts mentioned Revelation 6:9-11. To me this shows total ignorance of scripture. In the passage above it states, “And it was said to them that they should rest a little while longer, until both the number of their fellow servants and their brethren, who would be killed as they were, was completed.”
Even with my limited biblical education I can clearly see that there are others that will be saved: “until both the number of their fellow servants and their brethren, who would be killed as they were, was completed.”
Let’s back up here a bit and address the 144,000 Jewish witnesses. Revelation 7.
After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds so that no wind should blow on the earth or the sea or against any tree. And I saw another angel coming up from the east with the seal of the living God. He called out in a loud voice to the four angels to whom God had given the power to damage the earth and the sea. The angel said, “Do not harm the earth, the sea, or the trees, until we mark the servants of our God with a seal on their foreheads.” And I was told that the number of those who were marked with God’s seal on their foreheads was 144,000. They were from the twelve tribes of Israel, twelve thousand from each tribe: Judah, Reuben, Gad, Asher, Naphtali, Manasseh, Simeon, Levi, Issachar, Zebulun, Joseph, and Benjamin.
The Enormous Crowd
After this I looked, and there was an enormous crowd—no one could count all the people! They were from every race, tribe, nation, and language, and they stood in front of the throne and of the Lamb, dressed in white robes and holding palm branches in their hands. They called out in a loud voice: “Salvation comes from our God, who sits on the throne, and from the Lamb!” All the angels stood around the throne, the elders, and the four living creatures. Then they threw themselves face downward in front of the throne and worshiped God, saying, “Amen! Praise, glory, wisdom, thanksgiving, honor, power, and might belong to our God forever and ever! Amen!”
One of the elders asked me, “Who are these people dressed in white robes, and where do they come from?”
“I don’t know, sir. You do,” I answered. He said to me, “These are the people who have come safely through the terrible persecution. They have washed their robes and made them white with the blood of the Lamb. that is why they stand before God’s throne and serve him day and night in his temple. He who sits on the throne will protect them with his presence. Never again will they hunger or thirst; neither sun nor any scorching heat will burn them, because the Lamb, who is in the center of the throne, will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of life-giving water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”
The appearance of the 144,000 witnesses should have been proof alone to these so-called experts that people will be saved after the rapture. These men are not sent from Heaven, there were taken from the earth in the flesh. They accepted Jesus as their Messiah during the tribulation. The proof of their work in the Gospel is outlined in Revelation 7.
Proof Number 2.
The Trumpet judgments are God’s answer to the great multitude, they cried out for God to avenge their deaths. God strikes the earth with hail and fire, a great burning mountain, a great burning star call wormwood, sun and the moon darkened. Although these judgments don’t indicate if people will cry out to be saved, how then can a bible student and the so-called experts explain what happens in the fifth trumpet judgment? Revelation 9:1-12.
So, if people cannot be saved, as Dr. Reagan believes, then who are these people, and why would God avenge their deaths?
The fifth Trumpet judgment describes a star that falls from Heaven was given a key to the bottomless pit, when the pit was opened smoke arose out of the pit like the smoke of a great furnace. And the sun and the air were darkened because of the smoke of the pit. Then out of the smoke locusts came upon the earth. And to them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.
And they were not given authority to kill them, but to torment them for 5 months. And their torment was like the torment of a scorpion when it strikes a man. In those days men will seek death and will not find it; they will desire to die, and death will flee from them.
Allow me to ask this question. Why would God design and implement this judgment if people cannot be saved during the tribulation? The passage says, “In those days men will seek death and will not find it; they will desire to die, and death will flee from them.”
The people that are stung by these locust creatures, “using Johns desciption,” will seek death and not find it and death will flee from them. Did God design this judgment to watch these people suffer? Why can’t they die? Because God designed this judgment to produce repentance. It is unclear the number that are saved because of the judgment, but it’s clear that God wants these people saved.
Here is what God told Ezekiel.
“Do you think that I like to see wicked people die? says the Sovereign Lord. Of course not! I want them to turn from their wicked ways and live.” Ezekiel 18:23. Doesn’t this say everything about the fifth trumpet judgment. This judgment speaks for itself and will turn people back to Him through Christ.
It is unclear if people will be saved after this judgment is fulfilled. But one thing is abundantly clear. “People Will Be Saved During The Tribulation.”
It was not my intention in this article to disrespect the so-called Bible experts in Dr. Reagan’s video, or Dr. Reagan himself. These are men that are helping to fulfill the Great Commission. And like most of us who study the bible, there are elements and topics that stump bible students, myself included and obviously even those with advanced educations and degrees.
My intention was to disputed the men who say that people cannot be saved during the tribulation when scripture clearly states otherwise.
