The Remnant Flee to Petra. The Woman, the Child, and the Dragon.

Revelation 12:1-6. The Remnant Flee to Petra. The Woman, the Child, and the Dragon.

Then a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, and with the moon under her feet, and on her head was a crown of twelve stars. She was pregnant and was screaming in labor pains, struggling to give birth. Then another sign appeared in heaven: a huge red dragon that had seven heads and ten horns, and on its heads were seven diadem crowns. Now the dragon’s tail swept away a third of the stars in heaven and hurled them to the earth. Then the dragon stood before the woman who was about to give birth, so that he might devour her child as soon as it was born.
So the woman gave birth to a son, a male child, who is going to rule over all the nations with an iron rod. Her child was suddenly caught up to God and to his throne, and shefled into the wilderness where a place had been prepared for her by God, so she could be taken care of for 1,260 days.

In all my years of studying the great end times prophecies, the above verse is the most awesome, filled with symbolic meanings with great power and authority of God and Christ.

Let’s dig into this great passage. A Great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, and with the moon under her feet, and on her head was a crown of twelve stars.

Who is this women?
The women represents the remnant of believing Jews fleeing out of the hands of the indwelled “Satan” Antichrist. The symbolic term Sun and Moon in my mind represent the awesome power, authority and Glory of God and Christ, They control the Sun and the Moon as seen in Forth Trumpet Judgment. The 12 stars represent the 12 Disciples/Apostles of Jesus Christ.

Who is this Child?
The Child about to be born is Jesus Christ Himself represented by the Remnant, they have been now re-born and have come to their salvation and accepted Jesus Christ as their Messiah. Praise God and Christ.
Revelation 2:27. So the woman gave birth to a son, a male child, who is going to rule over all the nations with an iron rod.

This passage proves the interpretation that the child is Jesus, and the Remnant also symbolically is represented as the Remnant, Her child was suddenly caught up to God and to his throne, and shefled into the wilderness where a place had been prepared for her by God, so she could be taken care of for 1,260 days.

A Huge Red Dragon.
We learned in Revelation 12:7 that a great war erupts in Heaven, Satan and his fallen angels are defeated and thrown to earth. Revelation 12:7. Then war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. But the dragon was not strong enough to prevail, so there was no longer any place left in heaven for him and his angels. So that huge dragon – the ancient serpent, the one called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world – was thrown down to the earth, and his angels along with him.

The Antichrist/Satan will try to stop the Jews from leaving Israel.

Then the dragon stood before the woman who was about to give birth, so that he might devour her child as soon as it was born.

Satan is seen standing before the women (Remnant) it’s not that Satan himself is standing before the Remnant, for Satan has indwelled the Antichrist, it’s more likely the Antichrist forces that are pursuing the Remnant into the desert.

Revelation 12:15-16. Then the serpent spouted water like a river out of his mouth after the woman in an attempt to sweep her away by a flood, but the earth came to her rescue; the ground opened up and swallowed the river that the dragon had spewed from his mouth.

It’s very possible that this is an actual flood of water, the passage says that “water comes out of the mouth of the dragon to sweep them away,” or drown them.
Or this passage could be symbolic, meaning that the (torrent or flood) are military forces pursuing the Remnant into the desert. We see a similar event in Exodus after Moses leads the slaves out of Egypt where Pharaoh sends his forces to kill the slaves, God parts the Red Sea that devours the Egyption troops.

We see that God opens the earth and swallows the torrent or river. This great act further cements in the minds of those fleeing the Antichrist that God and Christ are indeed with them.

And the most extraordinary part is Revelation 12:14. But the woman was given the two wings of a giant eagle so that she could fly out into the wilderness.

The term” wings of eagles” is mentioned 2 times in the Old Testament.
Exodus 19:4: You yourselves have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself.

Isaiah 40:31: But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Can we assume “the woman was given the two wings of a giant eagle so that she could fly out into the wilderness” that God will give those that flee to the place prepared for them a means to travel quickly, and can we tie Isaiah 40:31 that states, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

I did some quick research as I wrote this article and discovered that the approximate distance as the crow flies in miles from Jerusalem Israel to Petra Jordan is 102 miles or 164.12 Kilometers.

I’ve said this before in several other articles that nothing is impossible for God, but I suspect that God will again give these people the strength to endure the 102 miles to there new home in Petra.
