2 Thessalonians 2:3. Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. NIV.

The Falling Away. The Apostle Paul was very concerned that the people of Thessalonia could be deceived by outsiders sending messages in his name stating that the Lord Jesus has already come, he also made it very clear that the falling away must come first before the man of lawlessness be revealed, (Satan in the form of the Antichrist.)

What Exactly Is The Falling Away?
Paul’s concern was that the Thessalonians not be deceived, not pay attention to spirits claiming foreknowledge about the arrival of Jesus Christ, and not to accept any messages from strangers claiming they were written by him, in doing so they would be deceived, this teaching more than implies the workings of Satan attempting to take the focus away from Paul’s sound teaching.

What About Today, How Can We Recognize The Falling Away.
2 Timothy 4, verses 1 to 5.

“In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.”

Timothy couldn’t have described in better terms what is happening around the world today.

I can’t speak about other countries, but here in America, it appears Paul’s prophecy about the falling away is well underway. The Falling Away prophecy has many facets, and it’s not just directed solely at the church. Many may say that the falling away means that those who claim to be Christian will fall away from their faith in Jesus Christ. No true Christian would ever walk away from their faith. The Falling way more than likely applies to unbelievers than true believers.

In this authors opinion the Falling Away represents rebellion and complete disregard for not just the worlds authority; IE: The authority of parents, teachers, police, those at work in authority, the disregard of common respect towards others that make up other forms of authority in our everyday lives, and the complete ignorance and outright rebellion towards God, Jesus Christ, The Gospel and God’s word. In fact, the falling away rests solely under another of Paul’s teachings: Apostasy…

#The term apostasy seems to be directed at the church, and is just in it’s meaning and understanding. Apostasy means to fall away from the truth. Therefore, an apostate is someone who has once believed and then rejected the truth of God. Apostasy is a rebellion against God because it is a rebellion against truth. In the Old Testament God warned the Jewish people about their idolatry and their lack of trust in Him. In the New Testament the epistles warn us about not falling away from the truth. Apostasy is a very real and dangerous threat.#

#To fully identify and combat apostasy, it is important that Christians understand its various forms and the traits that characterize its doctrines and teachers. As to the forms of apostasy, there are two main types: (1) a falling away from key and true doctrines of the Bible into heretical teachings that proclaim to be “the real” Christian doctrine, and (2) a complete renunciation of the Christian faith, which results in a full abandonment of Christ.#

The Falling Away, Apostasy Creates Complacency
The Dictionary defines complacency as: pleased, especially with oneself or one’s merits, advantages, situation, etc., often without awareness of some potential danger or defect; self-satisfied.

The once gay marriage debate has turned into common acceptance of what the bible clearly states as an abomination, Lev. 18:22, Lev. 20:13, 1 Cor. 6:9-10, Rom. 1:26-28. It undermines the basic family unit of husband and wife which is the God-ordained means of procreation. And, it is also dangerous to society. Instead of listening to Christians telling them that this behavior is sinful in God’s eyes and His word, they call believers bigots, when in fact it is Christians who are attempting to inform them what the word of God says about their choice. So instead of giving believers the benefit of the doubt, they rebel, and one day will face the consequences of their choice. From the White House who once took a stand against gay marriage has accepted it, even our nations lawmakers have become complacent, afraid that if they speak against it they’ll lose the next election. Complacency serves nothing.

Believers who become complacent are ineffective in their walk with Christ, instead of speaking the truth about a given situation or event, they turn their heads away. They silence themselves and blow an opportunity to speak the truth. Complacency serves the enemy of the truth.

Has the falling away already occurred?
As I stated above, the Falling Away represents a complete disregard for not just the worlds authority, but also the authority of God. Has it happened yet? If we see how are our society has degraded, the eroding of the family unit, rebellion against authority, and the fact that 2 Timothy 3:1-9 perfectly describes the state of America and the rest of the world today. I’m not saying it’s happened already, I’m saying its happening now!!!
