“When He opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, “Come and see.” And I looked, and behold, a pale horse. And the name of him who sat on it was Death, and Hades followed with him. And power was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword, with hunger, with death, and by the beasts of the earth.”
The breaking of the fourth seal brings a pale horse. “Pale” literally means pale green. The name of the rider on this horse is “Death.” “Hades” followed with him.
Four forms of death take place in this verse.
1. The Sword; represents not just the military forces under the direction of the Antichrist but that people will fight each other over food, medicine, clothing etc. Life will be very cheap at this point of the judgment.
2. Starvation. The War continues, with extreme inflation with the reduction in farming, manufacturing and distribution of daily essentials, starvation and famine will quickly envelope the world.
3. War. War brings death along with famine and the affects of the global war.
4. Beasts of the Earth. An interesting part of this passage, “and by the wild beasts of the earth.” I read an article a few years back, it’s author speculated because the Rapture takes millions of people the worlds zoo’s with suffer because of a lack of man power, money and care taking of these animals, many could most likely escape. If this is so, coupled with carnivores in the wild, the authors assumptions could be correct.
Next. The Fifth Seal Judgment.
