The Two Witnesses

The Two Witnesses. Then there was given me a measuring rod like a staff; and someone said, “Get up and measure the temple of God and the altar, and those who worship in it. Leave out the court which is outside the temple and do not measure it, for it has been given to the nations; and they will tread under foot the holy city for forty-two months. And I will grant authority to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for twelve hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth.”
These are the two olive trees and the two lamp stands that stand before the Lord of the earth, and if anyone wants to harm them, fire flows out of their mouth and devours their enemies; so if anyone wants to harm them, he must be killed in this way. These have the power to shut up the sky, so that rain will not fall during the days of their prophesying; and they have power over the waters to turn them into blood, and to strike the earth with every plague, as often as they desire.

Revelation 11:3. And I will grant my two witnesses authority to prophesy for 1,260 days, dressed in sackcloth. These men are the two olive trees and the two lamp stands that stand before the Lord of the earth, (the Antichrist.) Zechariah was given a vision of these two witnesses in the book of Zechariah chapter 4:4-14

Vision of the Lamp Stand and Olive Trees. Fulfillment of Zechariah 4:11-14
4. Now the angel who talked with me came back and wakened me, as a man who is wakened out of his sleep. And he said to me, “What do you see?”

So I said, “I am looking, and there is a lamp stand of solid gold with a bowl on top of it, and on the stand seven lamps with seven pipes to the seven lamps. 3 Two olive trees are by it, one at the right of the bowl and the other at its left.” 4 So I answered and spoke to the angel who talked with me, saying, “What are these, my lord?”

5 Then the angel who talked with me answered and said to me, “Do you not know what these are?”
And I said, “No, my lord.”
6 So he answered and said to me:
“This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel:
‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’
Says the Lord of hosts.
7 ‘Who are you, O great mountain?
Before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain!
And he shall bring forth the capstone
With shouts of “Grace, grace to it!”’

11. Then I answered and said to him, “What are these two olive trees—at the right of the lampstand and at its left?”
12. And I further answered and said to him, “What are these two olive branches that drip into the receptacles[b] of the two gold pipes from which the golden oil drains?”

13. Then he answered me and said, “Do you not know what these are?”
And I said, “No, my lord.”
14 So he said, “These are the two anointed ones, who stand beside the Lord of the whole earth.”

Rev 10 11:5: If anyone wants to harm them, fire comes out of their mouths and completely consumes their enemies. If anyone wants to harm them, they must be killed this way.

Rev 11:6: These two have the power to close up the sky so that it does not rain during the time they are prophesying. They have power to turn the waters to blood and to strike the earth with every kind of plague whenever they want.

These two olive trees and lamp stands are symbolic of the two witness (counterparts on earth) that God will raise up from the earth and will probably come onto the scene at the signing of the covenant that begins the tribulation.

Rev 11:6: These two have the power to close up the sky so that it does not rain during the time they are prophesying. They have power to turn the waters to blood and to strike the earth with every kind of plague whenever they want.

It appears that the appearance of the two witnesses in Revelation 11:3 is out of the chronological order, but it is not. It describes to John who they are, (two olive tress and two lamp stands of God,) and their fate, which implies their work is finished from the Apostle John’s perspective. The Witnesses are killed who then lie in the street exactly where they died, no one is to move, touch or dispose of their bodies because God has something planned for all to see.

Scriptural proof that neither Elijah, nor Encoh nor Moses can be the two witnesses. Click the link below.
